It's important to look after your candle in order to get the very best from it. Correct care will maximise burn time and ensure that the flame burns cleanly.
TRIM THE WICK
Before you light your Gold Hart candle make sure the wick is trimmed to 5mm (just less than 1/4 inch).
It's best to use a wick trimmer however, nail clippers will also work.
Trimming the wick will give a cleaner, brighter burn. Neglected wicks will appear to have a black mushroom on top and your candle will be dull with a weak flame. In addition, long wicks encourage black smoke rings around the glass.
ALLOW THE WAX TO FULLY MELT
Once your candle is lit, avoid extinguishing until the top layer of wax has melted all the way across.
Our wax is blended to burn evenly, all the way down. We recommend burning your Gold Hart Candle for between 30 minutes and 4 hours to fill your room with scent. Always protect the surface on which the candle sits.
Never burn your candle for longer than 4 hours.
EXTINGUISH WITH A SNUFFER
Don't blow out a candle; use a candle snuffer to gently extinguish the flame.
This prevents the wick becoming buried in wax, it also avoids the sight and smell of smoke or sooting. Once the flame is extinguished make sure the wick is upright and centered.
POSITION AWAY FROM MOVING AIR
Do your best to keep your burning candle away from fans, air conditioners, open windows, or heavily trafficked areas or where people walk back and forth a lot.
Draughts decrease the burn time and can disturb the flame, leading to unsightly black marks on the glass and diminished scent throw.
Always store your candle in a cool, dark and dry place. Scented candles also look great stored under a glass cloche, which also protects from dust.
If your candle becomes dusty or has fingerprints, gently rub the surface with a piece of nylon or a soft cloth.
Avoid placing your candles where they will be directly exposed to sunlight, harsh indoor lighting or any other heat source.
